Alternative Therapies

Cottonwood Creek Veterinary Hospital is proud to offer alternative therapy options for our patients. Combining alternative therapies with traditional medicine can add beneficial results to the outcome of treatment, potentially increasing the chances of successful outcomes for our patients.

Chiropractic Care:
Dr. Heather Teichgraeber is certified through the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association. Chiropractic is an alternative form of therapy to assist with your animal's central nervous system.  The central nervous system is made of the brain and spinal cord which are housed in the skull and spine of your animal.  The central nervous system controls and coordinates every function of your animal's body such as muscular, joint, and organ function.  When spinal misalignments (called subluxations) occur, your animal's nervous system function becomes compromised.  This compromise may cause behavior problems, lack of flexibility, muscle soreness, pain, lameness, performance problems, or illness.  If your animal is experiencing any of these symptoms, please contact us to request an examination to determine whether or not chiropractic care will be of beneficial form of alternative therapy for your animal.

Cold Laser Therapy:
We are happy to offer cold laser therapy for a multitude of diagnosis to expedite healing times. Most commonly cold laser therapy is utilized for osteoarthritis, back injuries and large wounds however this is just the beginning of the list of conditions that can be treated or aided by cold laser therapy. Cold laser provides increased energy to the cells of the body to allow them to perform their normal healing duties at an expedited rate. During this process, inflammation is decreased and cells are able to make necessary repairs to the body.

Physical Therapy:
Physical rehabilitation is a helpful adjunctive therapy to aide our patients recovering from orthopedic surgery or suffering from chronic musculoskeletal diseases (such as osteoarthritis) to help them rebuild key muscle and increase flexibility. The benefit provided from these exercises helps patient experience increased mobility and decreased pain associated with these situations.

Spryng Joint Injections:
Spryng is a revolutionary intra-articular injectable veterinary device that goes beyond masking symptoms to address the root cause of lameness issues — missing and damaged cartilage. By injecting this treatment directly into affected joints, additional cushion can be created within the joint to minimize the damaging effects of reduced cartilage. When cartilage is decreased the joint has increased friction from normal movement which increases inflammation within the joint, speeds up damage to the joint and causes pain with everyday movement. By adding Spryng to the joint and providing additional "padding" within the joint will slow down damage, decrease inflammation and make movement more comfortable for the patient.
